How to write about Game of Thrones pre-screening without spoilers

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to go to the pre-screening of first episode of Game of Thrones’ Season Three. I wrote to WinterIsComing.net about it, spoiler-free and all. Not an easy task! Here it is:

HBO’s Game of Thrones may be associated with the tagline “Winter is Coming”, but in Amsterdam (and most of Europe) the tagline might need an update: Winter is Not Leaving. Though the seasons are not as long and as tiresome as in Westeros, it is almost end of March, and the combination of wind and cold does frustrate even the most dedicated ASoIaF lover. (You can only convince yourself you are beyond the Wall for so long without an actual giant wall of ice present). But then again, it also makes the perfect weather to go see the press preview for the first episode of Season Three.

Having complained about the weather like true expats in the Netherlands, Hear Me Roar and I made it to the press pre-screening of the first episode in Amsterdam’s Het Ketelhuis. Het Ketelhuis is a small and lovely movie theater in the Westergasfabriek culture complex. Westergasfabriek used to be an abandoned gasworks in Amsterdam, and a part of it was converted to a temporary movie theater with help from the city. That was ten years ago. Today, Het Ketelhuis is part of an entire culture park of Westergasfabriek, including several cafes, a concert venue, galleries, television studios and the nearby Westerpark where concerts are organized several times a year. Today it also happened to host a Game of Thrones pre-screening. How cool.
